best poems for funerals

In this emotional time, the taking on of detailed arrangements can seem absolutely impossible. A eulogy is a speech written to be read at funerals, to commemorate the memory of a departed one.

In this part of a tribute, the deceased person's life is summed up in a few paragraphs. The person delivering the eulogy must show the reasons why the deceased is well loved and will be missed by the people around him. Lastly, do not forget to breathe and just be yourself.

Often mementos are kept for many years, framed for the family or left at the grave site as a reminder of the deceased. While it's probably not wise to crack jokes, a little humor will help to lift the spirits of those attending the services. A gentle, sincere hug or a shoulder to cry on is what a bereaved person needs to feel to know that he is not alone in his grief.

Don't worry if it runs just a bit longer, take a deep breath and try to relax. Again remember, the service and eulogy is held to honor the deceased and celebrate life.
